Dear valued merchants and partners,
Today, October 21st, two critical security vulnerabilities were identified in PHP, the foundational technology behind many websites and online shops. To safeguard against potential threats, numerous sites were proactively and temporarily taken offline.
This afternoon, the PHP team released the necessary security updates. Hosting providers, including Timme Hosting, Profihost, and Froxlor, worked at full speed to roll them out. For newer PHP versions, the updates were available in our managed environments starting around 7:00 PM. Patches have also now been successfully provided for older versions as well.
We closely monitored the situation throughout the day, collaborated hand-in-hand with hosting providers, and took every step possible to keep you informed and keep downtime to an absolute minimum.
Today's incident highlights just how essential up-to-date software, rapid response times, and robust protection measures truly are. Rapid advancements in AI are also continuing to reshape the cybersecurity landscape. We will be using the key takeaways from today to work alongside you and explore how we can make your shops even more secure moving forward.
We know firsthand that any downtime impacts your business operations and can affect revenue. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and truly appreciate your patience, trust, and understanding.
If you have any questions about today's events or would like to discuss optimizing your shop's security, please don't hesitate to reach out to us!
Warm regards,
Your Nimbits Team
